Transactional Analysis (TA) is a theory of personality and a model of communication.\nIt explores aspects such as behaviour, personality, and the changes that occur within these.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Transactional Analysis was developed by Eric Berne, a psychiatrist who introduced a practical approach to therapy.\nHis method, which he developed in the 1950s, was further refined over time by fellow psychotherapists and is still used today to support personal development and change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
TA can be applied in various forms of therapy. Over the years, different theories have been developed based on it, such as developmental and personality theories. TA is also used in communication models and coaching programmes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With the help of TA, a clear analysis can be made of what is going on in a person\u2019s thoughts and how this can potentially be adjusted. This makes TA widely applicable in psychotherapy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
TA is based on a number of core principles that return in all related theories. One of these is mutual respect. TA encourages you to value someone for who they are. In addition, personal responsibility is an important aspect: everyone is responsible for their own actions and cannot shift this onto others.\nAnother key principle is the motivation to change in order to break a negative cycle. Once you are convinced of the need to change your situation, you have already taken an important step forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Eric Berne believed it is important for therapist and client to enter into a contract.\nThis contract defines your goals and what you want to achieve. I apply this approach in all my forms of therapy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Zo weten beide partijen wat er van hen wordt verwacht. Zowel therapeut als e client hebben een verantwoordelijkheid om de therapie te laten slagen. Dit kan alleen als beiden zich hiervoor volledig inzetten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
