When words build walls and how to break them down again
Communication is the heart of a relationship. Not romance, not sex, not even shared dreams but how you continue to truly understand each other when life becomes raw and messy.
And that’s exactly where things often go wrong.
What began as open conversations slowly turns into blame, silence, or words that no longer carry meaning. You still hear each other, but you’re no longer listening to the soul beneath the words. And before you know it, you’re building wall after wall between you.
The hard truth: poor communication is rarely about how you speak. It’s about what you’re actually trying to protect your anger, your pain, your fear of being rejected all old wounds hiding behind your words.
Try this:
- Lay down your weapons. Listen without reacting simply hear what is truly being said.
- Speak from your inner world: “I feel…” instead of “You always…”
- Make space for silence. Sometimes silence says more than a thousand words and within it, a doorway to understanding can emerge.
Communication isn’t a technique. It’s a spiritual practice of being present with the truth of the other and of yourself without judgment.
And when you learn this, every conversation even the painful ones becomes an opportunity to grow closer together.
